Cherokee's Casey Cooper appointed to university's Board of Trustees

The University of North Carolina Board of Governors has appointed Casey Cooper, chief executive officer of Cherokee Indian Hospital, to fill an unexpired term on the Board of Trustees at Western Carolina University.

Jeff Davis hanging up stethoscope after more than 30 years as university physician

At the end of the month, Jeff Davis, a university physician for more than 30 years, will retire. At his office in the Bird Building, boxes are being packed and photos have been taken off the walls, while files are sorted and bookshelves cleared, and memories fill the increasing emptiness of the room as he prepares for that last day of work here.

Communication sciences to offer new Biltmore Park speech clinic for people who stutter

Western Carolina University’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders will begin offering a new specialized clinic for children and adults who stutter. The clinic will be located at WCU’s Biltmore Park instructional site in Asheville, beginning in August on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Finalist withdraws, chancellor search process put on temporary hold

Patricia B. Kaemmerling and J. Bryant Kinney, co-chairs of the committee conducting the search for Western Carolina University’s next chancellor, have been notified that the finalist who was put forward for approval by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors has withdrawn from consideration for the position.
