Environmental Chemistry Concentration

Chemistry Student in a lab.

The program for the Master of Science in Chemistry with an Environmental Chemistry concentration requires a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate study, including an environmentally related thesis as specified by the Department of Chemistry and Physics.

This concentration will give you the opportunity to examine environmental chemistry from a number of viewpoints including the sources, reactions and effects of chemicals in the environment, transport and impacts of chemicals and the fates of chemical species in water, soil, air and living environments.

Several faculty have conducted research focused on environmental remediation, biopesticides, and natural products chemistry. See our Faculty Research page for a description of environmentally-focused research opportunities.
