MSW students interested in gaining knowledge and skills in the rapidly growing field of integrated healthcare have an opportunity to pursue a focus area that includes an integrated healthcare course (SOCW 530), an online interprofessional education module, special interprofessional education experiences, and a two semester specialized year internship in an integrated healthcare or highly collaborative team-based care setting. A stipend of up to $10,000 may be available to eligible students.
Medical Practices and agencies/ organizations offering integrated care are invited to become placement sites for MSW students pursuing a focus area in this field. Free technical assistance to further increase levels of collaboration and integration is offered. It is possible for a WCU Social Work faculty to provide the required clinical supervision if a site has a task supervisor and would like to work with a MSW field student.
MSW graduates with a focus in integrated care are prepared to immediately enter health related careers offering social work services.
