CRC Personal Training Session

WCU Campus Recreation offers regular exercise programming, special events, certifications and training and more for the campus community.

Summer Session II (July 5-August 3)
Make time to de-stress between your study sessions or get away from your office by squeezing in your physical activity with our Group X program fitness classes. Classes are offered Monday through Friday. Summer Session I (SSI) group x passes are $5 to attend as many classes as you want from June 4 - July 3 or $10 for both SSI and SSII. Don't delay getting into your classes and get your pass today! 

Non-members (faculty/staff/spouses/life partners) interested in participating in Summer Aqua X only can purchase a pass for $15.00 from the Campus Recreation Center. For more information please visit the Campus Recreation Center front desk or call 227-7069. Registration & payment is accepted any time the CRC is open.

Group X Jam will kick off the Fall 2018 semester on Thursday, August 23 at 5:30pm in the CRC Gym!

Achieve your health and wellness goals with the help of a Personal Trainer. Education is the Key to a Healthy You!
A trainer can:

  • Assess your health history and level of conditioning.          
  • Create and accomplish long and short term fitness goals.
  • Ensure a safe and effective workout.
  • Learn new training skills.
  • Enhance your mind, body, and spirit.
  • Improve your overall fitness.
  • Reach or maintain a healthy weight.

Fitness Assessment
A fitness assessment is an excellent way to begin your personal workout program. Fitness Assessments help determine your individual baseline fitness level by measuring your individual strengths and weaknesses. The results of the fitness assessment assist in determining the best fitness program for your individual needs.

A fitness assessment includes the following assessments:

  • Resting heart rate and blood pressure
  • Circumferences and body composition
  • Muscular strength and endurance
  • Cardiovascular fitness and flexibility

    A fitness assessment is required before you begin personal training and is included in the cost of all personal training packages.

Your Personal Program
These packages are designed for individuals who are self-motivated and want to work independently. A personal trainer will develop an exercise program specifically to fit your goals.
     Phase I     $50
     Fitness Assessment, 2 Personal Training Sessions, and a Personal Exercise Program (8 weeks).
     Phase II    $35
     1 Reassessment/Personal Training Session, and Personal Exercise Program (8 weeks).

Individual Training Sessions
These packages are designed for clients who are looking for someone to keep them motivated and accountable. Each package includes a fitness assessment plus the number of indicated sessions.*
     One Session               $20
     Five Sessions             $65
     Ten Sessions              $110
*All personal training sessions are 1 hour in length.

Small Group Training
These packages are designed for a group of 2-6 individuals and incorporate individual coaching from a certified personal trainer. To get the most out of your sessions, it is recommended that your group has a common goal and similar workouts.
     Four Sessions          $25/person
     Eight Sessions         $50/person

*All personal training packages are nonrefundable. Single and Five session packages are good for 60 days from the original date of purchase. Ten session packages are good for 120 days from the original date of purchase.


African Dance
Thursday, February 22, 7:00-8:00pm, Studio 2
An adventure is in store as you explore your own personal journey in Amai's Introduction to Contemporary Pan-African Dance and Culture! This African Dance & Culture experiment is delivered through Amai's personal stories of her travels and work in Africa, with movements in the Pan-African tradition from the Umfundalai Technique, a variety of African-based movements from around the world and Diaspora. Movements can be fast-paced and energizing and lots of be ready!
Bring an open heart & mind and water bottle; and wear flexible, loose-fitting clothing or workout attire.

Amai Butterfly Dancing Heart (Dr. Myrna Clarice Munchus)
is a spiritual activist, a dancer, musician, storyteller, and teacher. She has an academic background in dance and religion, the Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Temple University, and the Doctor of Shamanic Psycho-Spiritual Studies from Venus Rising University. Ami has enjoyed a career in performance that spans six decades with credits from classical ballet to world traditions, tenure as a university professor, and she has traveled and lived in humanitarian service on the continent of Africa for nearly a decade ('99-'08). She now travels the Earth as an advocate for women's empowerment, balancing the energy of the divine feminine and sacred masculine within and out, and serves as a workshop facilitator for personal health and transformation and walking the life's journey fully awake.

Mindfulness and Self-Compassion

Wednesday, March 21, 7:00-8:00pm, CRC Meeting Room
This experience is all about understand what mindfulness and self-compassion are and how they benefit you. Some benefits include increased ability to focus, decreased stress and anxiety, improved immune system functioning, improved overall well-being. Get the chance to practice during this interactive workshop.

Sunshine & Sunglasses Yoga

Wednesday, April 25, 5:30-6:30pm, NEW LOCATION: Reid 129 (Fit Lab)
Join guest yoga instructor, Chad Hallyburton, outside for some fresh air and sunshine in this outdoor inspired yoga class. What better way to decompress and recharge from your day than being outside? You'll leave class feeling happier, more positive, less stressed, and with a smile! Don't forget your sunglasses!


Cross Training Challenge 2018

Cross Training Challenge 2018 has concluded. Thank you to everyone who participated!

The Cross Training Challenge is back for Spring 2018! Review the directions below and the CTC tracking form to learn the details of what's happening this year.

Dates: Monday, January 22 - Sunday, March 4, 2018


  • Choose two of the following categories: cardio, strength, or other. All participants must complete the wellness category.
  • Complete the designated amount of days of your chosen categories.
  • Once you've completed 100% of your two choice categories and the wellness category, turn your form into the CRC.

T-shirts will be ordered at the conclusion of the program. Once they arrive an email will be sent to those who completed the challenge to pick up their hard earned shirt!
