In this one-day workshop participants will learn about the importance of contracts in business planning inlcuding compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Key issues will be addressed related to working with other organizations and how to guard against legal matters related to fundraising, liability, finances and other potential risks. 

Participants will learn:

  • The importance of contracts in business planning, including the basics of contract law such as form, content, and compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Key issues that can and should be addressed via contract with vendors, venues, presenters, advertisers and other service providers
  • What duties and responsibilities can and should be addressed via contract regarding fundraising, fiduciary duties, premises liability and other potential pitfalls
