Fall 2017 MFA Thesis Exhibition 

Don Sawyer | Lives Matter

Exhibition: Sept 5 - Sept 15 
Reception: Sept 7 from 5-7pm

Lives Matter is an exhibition of various oil paintings created by MFA graduate student, Don Sawyer, based on three actual world events that highly concern him as a black artist.

The viewers are given the opportunity to contemplate on realistic narrative based compositions. These narratives are the artists' views of police violence and its outcomes, human trafficking and homelessness.

Through close association with a diverse faculty, visiting artists, scholars, and their peers, students develop a contextual and historical awareness of their practice focusing on exploration, creative research, and art making.
