Tuition and Fees

Seize the Opportunity for an Affordable Degree.

NC Promise will provide dramatically reduced tuition costs for students.

Western Carolina University is an NC Promise campus, where we aim to address college affordability by reducing the cost of tuition with funding from the state of North Carolina. This ensures the same high-quality educational experience for an even greater value. Tuition rates are reviewed and set annually by the North Carolina legislature. The University reserves the right to alter any charges without prior notice.

NC Promise

Beginning in Fall 2018 semester, all undergraduate students, both residential and online, attending WCU will receive dramatically reduced student tuition costs as part of a new program from the State of North Carolina called the NC Promise Tuition Plan.  Learn More

Use of Tuition Statement

Western Carolina University is a publicly supported institution.  Tuition and fees meet only a part of the total cost of the education of students enrolled. Tuition and fee rates included being waiting for approval by the University System of North Carolina Board of Governors, not inconsistent with actions of the General Assembly.

Students and parents may find additional information about Western Carolina University's use of tuition by going to Western Carolina University's Use of Tuition Statement found here. This statement provides detail on an annual basis for the UNC Board of Governors approved tuition and fees only. For a list and description of both UNC Board of Governors and WCU's fees, go to More About Required Fees.
